HA House
System
At Houston Academy, you will have both a House and a home. In 2022, Houston Academy implemented our House System, creating a vibrant and engaging way for students to connect across grade levels. Our six Houses—Cahaba Hawks, Catoma Bobcats, Chickasaw Coyotes, Perdido Panthers, Sepulga Gators, and Tensaw Bears—are home to all students in grades 1-12. Each House has its own colors, mascot, and even a unique handshake, fostering a strong sense of identity and camaraderie.
The House System encourages friendly competition, mentorship, and leadership opportunities. Each House is guided by two student captains and three teacher captains, who help lead activities and promote teamwork. Throughout the year, students participate in a variety of House events and special traditions, making their experience at Houston Academy even more memorable.
It's a Tradition
One of our favorite traditions is House Shirt Day, held on the first Wednesday of each month. On this day, students proudly wear their House shirts with uniform bottoms and enjoy a team breakfast together, strengthening the bonds within their House. The highlight of the year is the HA House Games, an exciting field day-style competition held at our football stadium. This highly anticipated event brings all Houses together for a day of spirited challenges, teamwork, and fun.
