Tradition with Purpose
At Houston Academy, our traditions help create lasting memories and strengthen the bonds within our school community. These special events celebrate our students, families, and school spirit throughout the year.
Below are just a few of our many favorite traditions that make life at Houston Academy so special.
Grandparents’ Day
Each fall, we welcome our Lower School students’ grandparents to campus for a special day filled with classroom visits, performances, and memorable moments. It’s a cherished time to honor the important role grandparents play in our students’ lives.

Blacklight Bonfire & Pep Rally
The ultimate spirit night before our big rivalry football game! Students, families, and alumni gather on campus for a blacklight pep rally, bonfire, music, games, and school spirit like no other.
Preschool Thanksgiving Feast
Our 3-year-old preschool students host a Thanksgiving feast for their parents each November. Dressed in festive attire, our youngest students share songs, crafts, and a traditional meal to celebrate gratitude and family.

Second Grade Luau
A favorite Lower School tradition! Our second graders put on a lively luau complete with music, dance, and tropical costumes. Families are invited to enjoy the students’ performances and join in the fun.
House Games
The biggest competition of the year for our House System! Held at our football stadium, students from every grade participate in relays, tug-of-war, obstacle courses, and team challenges for House points and bragging rights.

Senior Europe Trip
A Houston Academy tradition for decades — our seniors embark on a week-long trip to Europe each spring, visiting iconic cities, landmarks, and historical sites across several countries. It’s an unforgettable adventure and rite of passage for our graduates.
MayFair
A springtime festival for our Lower School students featuring carnival games, face painting, inflatables, treats, and activities across campus. It’s a day filled with color, fun, and laughter for our youngest Raiders.

First Grade
Fairy Tale Ball
A magical day where our first grade boys dress in their Sunday best and the girls wear beautiful fairytale dresses. Students participate in themed activities, storytelling, and special performances to celebrate classic fairy tales in style.
