Re-Enrollment at Houston Academy

At Houston Academy, re-enrollment is simple and seamless through our continuous enrollment process. Rather than signing a new contract each year, families are automatically re-enrolled for the following school year—no paperwork or annual signatures required.

If a family decides not to return, there is an opt-out period early in the spring semester when they may notify the school of their intentions. Otherwise, students are considered enrolled for the upcoming school year, giving families peace of mind and one less deadline to manage.

Continuous enrollment reflects our commitment to making the HA experience smooth and student-focused—every step of the way.

Below are some common questions and answers related to continuous enrollment.

  • Re-enrollment is the annual process schools use to confirm which students are returning for the next school year. At Houston Academy, this information is essential for planning and preparing for the year ahead—especially knowing how many students we’ll have on the first day of school.

  • Annual re-enrollment allows HA leadership to plan confidently for staffing, programs, curriculum, and facility needs. Until families confirm their return, we can’t finalize decisions.

We take the stewardship of tuition dollars seriously and aim to invest wisely to ensure the best possible education for every student.

  • Since most HA students return each year—95% last year alone—we use a Continuous Enrollment model to make re-enrollment easier for families. Instead of asking everyone to confirm annually, we now use an opt-out process.

This means once you’ve signed your Continuous Enrollment contract, your child’s spot is automatically reserved each year unless you let us know otherwise—saving time and streamlining the process for our HA community.

  • With all families on Continuous Enrollment, re-enrollment season will simply include a reminder from the Admissions Office. Only families planning to withdraw will need to notify us in writing by February 28th. For the 95+% returning, no action is needed!

  • Families must notify the Admissions Office in writing between February 1 and February 28 if they do not plan to return the following school year. If no notice is given, the contract automatically renews on March 1.

Withdrawals after March 15 will result in a contractual obligation to pay full tuition for the upcoming school year.

  • We understand life happens. If major changes occur—such as a move 50+ miles away, HA no longer meeting your child’s needs, or other unforeseen circumstances approved by our Board—your contract may be released without financial penalty.

  • Guaranteed placement: With rising enrollment and waitlists in many grades, opting for continuous enrollment secures your child’s spot until graduation.
