The arts are a vital part of every student’s education.

The arts nurture creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity. Houston Academy strives to cultivate an understanding and love for fine arts and performing arts. In our arts classes, students and teachers appreciate and explore the creative process together.

Art
All 3P – 5th grade students take art. In the Middle School, the 7th and 8th grade students have an art elective. In grades 9–12, students can take Art I through Art IV. An AP Studio Art class is also offered.

Music
Lower School students in 3P through 4th grade participate in general music classes. Students in 5th and 6th grades take a chorus class. The Upper School Chorus is an elective for students in grades 7th through 12th.

Theater
Houston Academy puts on two musical productions each year. Starting in the 4th grade, students can audition to be in a new musical each semester, and practices take place after school. The Lower School Musical is for grades 4th through 6th, and the Upper School Musical is for grades 7th through 12th. Drama class is offered as an elective for grades 7th through 12th.

Band
Students in 5th and 6th grades take band class. The Upper School Band is an elective for grades 7th through 12th.
