Counselor's Corner
Houston Academy is committed to providing a comprehensive college counseling program with personalized service to the students and their families.
—
Our goal is to help students identify colleges and universities that best match their needs and abilities. Students are provided with assistance throughout their high school years with college planning and the admissions process. We encourage students to take advantage of the rigorous curriculum offered at H.A. and to develop interests outside the classroom by taking advantage of the many extracurricular opportunities offered here. Since our mission is to prepare students for responsible participation in a global society, we encourage students to become involved in their local community and the world beyond.
Standardized Testing
Each year the school administers the Stanford Achievement Test to students in grades 7 & 8. The 8th graders also take the Explorer Test (ACT). Sophomores and juniors are given the PSAT and the PLAN (ACT) tests. Fees are charged for in-school testing. Students are required to take the ACT or SAT in the junior or senior years. The dates for these tests are posted on the school calendar.
