Houston Academy Welcomes…
Houston Academy is excited to introduce the following folks to Houston Academy for the 2023-2024 school year.

Mrs. Jenny Uible – Head of Middle School
“Hello, my name is Jenny Uible and I’m so excited to be joining Houston Academy. I’ve been working in independent school education for over 25 years and have taught a variety of ages; however, middle school is my favorite.” Mrs. Uible will be joining HA as its new Head of Middle School. She has an undergraduate degree from Denison University where she majored in Spanish and Psychology. She also has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from University of Texas at Arlington. Over the years, Mrs. Uible has served in a variety of roles as an educator and an administrator. She has taught Spanish, but at times she has also been called upon to teach mathematics, reading, and social studies. Jenny was an All-American swimmer in high school and college and enjoys coaching sports today, having coached a variety of sports over the years. Currently, Mrs. Uible serves as the Assistant Principal of All Saints School in Jupiter, Florida. Outside of school, she enjoys running, biking, and swimming.

Mrs. Deidra Kendrick-White – Middle School Counselor
Deidra Kendrick-White, a native of Enterprise, AL, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a double minor in Sociology and Child Development from Auburn University. After completion of her undergraduate degree, she earned a Master of Science degree in Health and Human Sciences with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern Mississippi. Deidra then moved to Atlanta, Georgia and lived in the northern suburbs of Alpharetta where she became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and provided counseling to children, adolescents, and their families through her private practice. She then served King’s Ridge Christian School as their Lower School Counselor for five years prior to moving to Dothan with her husband Richard, and two daughters, Avery and Reese. Avery is currently a Freshman at Houston Academy, and Reese is a rising 7th grader joining Houston Academy in the Fall. Deidra is excited for the wonderful opportunity to work with the Middle School students each day and provide a nurturing, positive environment for them. She is excited and ready to serve Houston Academy Middle School students and their families as their Middle School Counselor!

Mrs. Tammy Murphree – Grades K – 6 STEAM and Technology Teacher 🡪
Mrs. Murphree is no stranger to Houston Academy. She has served in a variety of capacities in the last few years and is now returning to lead a program that she designed – the HA Lower and Middle School STEAM program. Mrs. Murphree is a veteran educator with experience as a teacher and instructional coach. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Alabama and her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Walden University. Mrs. Murphree has a true passion for project-based and problem-based learning. Therefore, she pursued a Gifted Education certificate with a STEM concentration. In her spare time, Mrs. Murphree likes to read, walk, and shop in antique and thrift stores. Her favorite thing, though, is spending time with her family and friends.
