Teacher Tuesday Spotlight: Jill Dykes.

Today’s interview was conducted by the US Digital Media Team (Mason Crowder, Brody Williams, Alex Kreger, JT Eberhart).
HA US DM: What is your most memorable moment while teaching?
Jill Dykes: I have had many memorable moments while teaching. But recently, I received a handwritten thank you note from a second grader thanking me for teaching her how to read when she was in kindergarten. I have it handing behind my desk.
HA US DM: Since you are your family own Zaxby’s, we were curious on what is the most popular option on the Zaxby’s menu?
Jill Dykes: I would say the Big Zax Snack is the most popular! My favorite is the boneless wings with sweet and spicy sauce.
HA US DM: What is it like to teach and also watching your kids go through school here?
Jill Dykes: I have loved working where my kids go to school. I have loved being able to be present for every milestone. I don’t know if they would say the same about always having their mom around. They never wanted me to on any of their field trips because they said I was too much like a teacher and I would be mean to their friends. But, if one of them forgets to get a paper signed or they need money they know where to go.
HA US DM: Talk about Mrs. Lee and how you all work together in 5K.
Jill Dykes: Mrs. Lee is the BEST! We love to laugh and try to make every day fun for the kids in our class. She is always one step ahead of me and sometimes I think she can read my mind. If there is ever a stressful situation especially that involves blood or throw up Mrs. Lee is always to the rescue. Our favorite day of school is pajama day. If we could, we would wear pajamas to school everyday.
HA US DM: What do you love about HA?
Jill Dykes: I love that there are so many things that kids can do to be involved at HA. There is something for everyone. Sullivan just had to submit an expanded resume for college and it was 4 pages long. She has had awesome opportunities to do different sports, clubs, and volunteering through HA.
Thank you, Jill Dykes, for all you do for our HA community!
