Five Houston Academy students earned semi-finalists out of 16,000 chosen out of the 1.5 million 2020 class members who entered the competition for the National Merit Scholarship Program

We have received exciting news as five Houston Academy students earned high accolades within the National Merit Scholarship Program! As pictured below, Lucy Alford, Anna-Grace Dumas, Hayes Edwards, David Edwards and Emmett Lee, received news recently that they were selected as five lone members in the Wiregrass to make the semi-finalists list out of 16,000 total students in the nation. There were 1.5 million students nationwide that entered the competition. That’s nearly 1%!

The National Merit Scholarship program advocates scholastic excellence, and is one of the highest achievements for any high school student to earn across the nation. These five students have separated themselves among the highest scorers in the state by joining the high marks of the semifinalists. This also is a testament to our quality of teachers and staff and what is being taught, and learned in the classroom at HA. We wish these five scholars all of the best as they move forward in the process.
