Hits for Heroes | Support local Wounded Warriors

We LOVE February! One of the main reasons why, is because it’s the month for Hits for Heroes. This organization was established by some members of the Houston Academy family and a few locals to combine America’s favorite pastime with true American heroes.  The money they raise goes to local wounded veterans through Jeep Sullivan’s Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures and to send care packages to our deployed troops through the USO.

What can we do to help?

  • Order a Hits for Heroes t-shirt at the HA front desk (the deadline is tomorrow 2/2).  There will be several days this month that we will be wearing these shirts to school.  Also, a t-shirt gives you free admission to Hoops for Heroes on Feb. 14 (see below).
  • Attend the Hits for Heroes basketball fundraiser in the gym on February 14 @ 2:00 p.m.  Cost is $2.00, but free admission if you are wearing this year’s t-shirt.  This is always fun to see faculty and students playing each other.
  • Bring extra change to school!  Every classroom has a collection bucket for your spare change during the month of February.  The Lower School class that raises the most money by Feb. 20 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance on the field before the Houston Academy vs. Slocomb game on February 22.  Bring in a little everyday, it really add up!  Checks should be made out to Hits for Heroes.
  • Attend the baseball games and Opening Ceremonies on February 17 @ 3:00 p.m. at Northcutt Field, Dothan.
Thank you so much for your support!
