Latin Club is open to students presently enrolled in Latin. Its purpose is to promote the study of the Latin language and Roman history.
Community Service Project
The Latin Club plans a canned food drive as their community service project this year.
School Service Project
The members of the Latin Club are competing among their classes to see who can collect the most "Box Tops for Education," which they will then donate to the school. The winning class earns a party.
The club also participates in Foreign Language Week. This year, the Latin classes visited the Preschool and Lower School students and taught them to count to 10 in Latin. Then the Upper School students helped the younger children practice the numbers with bowling! The students counted in Latin, of course, the number of pins knocked down. This fun was followed by coloring sheets and animal crackers. Several of the Lower School students noticed that the Spanish numbers looked and sounded a lot like Latin so Ms. Mack explained that Spanish came from Latin. It's nice when everything works together!
