May Fair

May Fair is an annual festival at Houston Academy. May Fair will be held on Thursday, May 2nd 2013. Our Headmaster opens the festival in the courtyard around the May Pole, which is decorated with flowers and ribbons. Third graders sing and perform traditional May Pole dances. Activities of the day include rock climbing, face painting, pony rides, inflatable games, train rides, carnival games, Bingo, a bake sale, and much more. Pizza, drinks, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy, and BBQ plates are also available. All parents of students in 3P-6th grades work their classroom booths by volunteering in “shifts” during the festival, providing sponsorships, and baking goodies for the bake sale. Upper School parents volunteer with their child’s homeroom booths, sponsorships, drinks and ice, etc. May Fair is the school’s top fundraiser and nets approximately $18,000 each year.
