4P to Fire Station #8

Posted: February 22, 2012

Going to the Fire Station #8 on 84 West is a 4P tradition. The firefighters there are so gracious and outgoing each year. The children get a real hands-on approach to how a fire station works and exactly what a firefighter does in our community. This is the culminating activity for their Community Helpers Week. Not only do the students see a puppet show about fire safety, they also actually act out how to get out of their houses by crawling through a pretend window. During the visit, the children climb on a fire truck and see how the equipment works. Their favorite part is when the firemen dress up to show them that they shouldn’t be afraid of the way they look or sound, even though through their masks they sound a little like Darth Vader. Thanks to the firefighters at Station #8 for doing such a great job with our preschoolers!
