In addition to Houston Academy’s strenuous academic program, the fine arts are a vital part of every student’s education. The arts nurture creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity. Houston Academy strives to cultivate an understanding and love for the fine arts.
All Lower School students take art. In Upper School, the 7th grade students take a cultural art class; the 8th grade students have an art elective; and in grades 9–12, students can take Art I-Art IV. An AP Studio Art class is also offered. Lower School students in 3P through 4th grade participate in music classes. Students in 4th through 6th grades make up the Lower School Chorus. All 5th and 6th grade students comprise the beginning bands. The Upper School Band and Chorus are made up of students in grades 7 through 12. Student involvement in art and music is an important aspect of Houston Academy, where the students and teachers can appreciate and explore the creative process together.
