Alabama Virtual Library
All Alabama residents have free access to the wonderful and immense resource that is the Alabama Virtual Library. The AVL holds multiple reference databases for all ages, several scholarly databases, the Alabama Mosaic, digital books, magazine articles, archival collections including photographs and historical materials, and the list goes on. The AVL now uses a technology called Geolocation, which means its satellites can detect if you are on a computer within Alabama, so you no longer need an AVL card with a user name and password. Should you have plans to leave the state and would like to have access to the AVL, the Library can provide you with log-on information, so that you may remotely conduct research.
The Library provides classes on how to utilize the AVL, and the Librarian is happy to conduct one-on-one tutorials should a student, faculty member or even a parent wish to learn more about it.
