We are mission driven. Our mission is to prepare all our students for responsible participation in a global society by providing an excellent learning environment and opportunities to achieve their highest academic, social, and creative potential.

Houston Academy is a traditional independent college preparatory school, and the only school in the Wiregrass accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools. For over forty years our graduates have gone to great colleges and universities in Alabama and around the country.

Our nurturing, devoted, and highly-trained teachers challenge, inspire, and motivate students to achieve their best.

We are academicians, athletes, and artists. Our students are National Merit Finalists and Commended Scholars. We compete in the Alabama High School Athletic Association and have won state championships in softball, tennis, baseball, basketball, and golf. Our students’ art has achieved recognition regionally and around the state. Our band, cheerleaders, and dancers have rocked pep rallies and athletic contests at home and on the road. Our choruses have performed at Carnegie Hall and Turner Field. Athletics, music, and art are integral to all of our students’ education and growth.
